Clark Contracts has been named winner of the Training Excellence Award at the 30th anniversary Construction News Awards in London, one of the UK’s most prestigious construction industry awards programmes.

The award recognises organisations that demonstrate a strong commitment to developing their people and achieving measurable business benefits through high-quality training. Clark Contracts’ submission highlighted the continued impact of the Clark Contracts Academy, which provides structured learning and development pathways to support career progression, strengthen skills across the business and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.

As well as taking home the Training Excellence Award, the Scottish Main Contractor was also shortlisted for Contractor of the Year (under £500m), recognising its performance across project delivery, innovation, sustainability, digital transformation, skills development and supply chain collaboration.

Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director, Clark Contracts, said: “Winning the Training Excellence Award is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment we have made to investing in our people over many years. Through the Clark Contracts Academy, we are proud to support apprentices, trainees and employees at every stage of their careers, helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed to progress within the construction industry.

“To also be shortlisted for Contractor of the Year is further recognition of the hard work and dedication of our teams across the business. These achievements reflect not only the quality of the projects we deliver, but the culture we have built around continuous improvement, collaboration and long-term development.”

The Construction News Awards celebrate excellence across the UK construction industry, bringing together contractors, consultants, clients, specialists and individuals from across the sector. Now in their 30th year, the awards recognise the organisations and people shaping the future of construction.

Clark Contracts’ success follows more than two decades of investment in training and development through its Academy, which continues to play a key role in attracting new talent, supporting professional development and strengthening skills across the company.
