Our Small Works Division have now completed the refurbishment of 56 Cancer Research UK stores as part of the Scottish store re fit framework which we have been working on since July 2013. The works we completed within each Cancer Research store included alterations to existing layouts, painting, flooring, lighting replacement and joinery works.

Nigel Wighton, Retail Estates Manager, Cancer Research UK, said “We are pleased to have reached the end of this important two year re fit programme for our Retail Chain and thank Clark Contracts and their team for their involvement in helping us achieve this important goal. To complete the programme to phase plan and to budget is an impressive achievement for all involved.“

During the completion of the framework, we had the pleasure of re-fitting our local store in Johnstone which is less than five miles from our head office.
When the stores are closed for refurbishment, the charity must sell/displace all of their stock meaning they start again with nothing when opening the new store. In order to help support the charity in building up new stock, we collected bags of goods in our head office which were donated to the new store on its opening day, in February 2015. Cancer Research UK estimate each bag of unwanted goods to be worth around £25 which helps directly support their groundbreaking work.
