Clark Contracts has been appointed to the Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA)’s £150m Fire Safety Framework.

The contractor has been appointed to the cladding remediation workstream of the framework for all five regional lots across Scotland.

The framework has been developed to support the 120 public sector organisations SPA represents, to maintain and upgrade their buildings efficiently and cost effectively.

Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director at Clark Contracts, said, “Given the recent focus on fire safety, we are delighted to have secured a place on this major framework which will support the safeguarding of social housing and public buildings occupiers.”

Lesley Anderson, regional director for SPA, said: “This framework will empower councils, social landlords, the NHS, and a multitude of other public sector organisations to efficiently and cost-effectively maintain and upgrade buildings, ensuring they offer warm, comfortable, and safe living spaces that prioritise the protection of human life and property against the risks of fire.

“Since the Grenfell Tower tragedy, ensuring buildings are safe from fire has become an even greater focus for local authorities and those providing social housing.

“Our fire safety framework provides a firm reassurance to public organisations that any work or services they instruct will be carried out by proven, fully qualified experts who adhere to the most rigorous up-to-date standards and have gone through their paces to achieve a place.”

Clark Contracts are already appointed to SPA’s frameworks for Public Building & Infrastructure, New Build Housing and Refurbishment and Modernisation, as well as several other public sector frameworks including Scotland Excel’s New Build Residential Framework, NHS National Services Scotland’s Minor Works Framework, Crown Commercial Services Construction Works Framework, and agreements with Fusion21, Prosper, the University of Glasgow and The City of Edinburgh Council.
