Clark Contracts has completed the £3m transformation of the Category B listed Paisley Arts Centre to create a unique and intimate performance venue and cultural hub, for Renfrewshire Council.
The Paisley based main contractor created new back-of-house and performance facilities, improved sound and lighting, upgraded dressing rooms for artists, and enhanced workshop space for rehearsals and other events.
The main auditorium has been refurbished with new retractable seating to improve the audience experience and there is an expanded bar area for pre-and post-show drinks.
The public space at the front of the building has also been redesigned, removing the railings and adding new paving and seating, and a small extension has been added to the entrance of the building.
The venue is now being operated by OneRen, a charity which provides culture, leisure, and sport services for the area, and will host a year-round programme of music, comedy and theatre.
Michael Scanlan, Director, Clark Contracts, said “We are delighted to support the regeneration of Paisley with the extensive refurbishment of Paisley Arts Centre, to create this fantastic venue. We hope the local community and those visiting the town, enjoy the new facility for years to come.”
The project was completed as part of a wider investment in Paisley’s cultural venues, ‘Future Paisley’, which supports the wide-ranging programme of events and activity using the town’s internationally significant cultural and heritage story to change the area’s future.
