Four future leaders of Scotland’s building and construction sector have won awards sponsored by Clark Contracts.

The four were recognised at the Annual Prize Giving of the School of Engineering and Built Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).

Gordon McRae, 26, from Ayrshire won the Alan Calder Memorial Prize, a special award for surveying students set up by Clark Contracts in 2008, in memory of their former colleague. The prize, including a cheque for £200, is awarded annually to the top final year Quantity Surveying Student (part time) at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Clark Contracts also sponsors a number of awards relating to Level 3 Construction Technology, a core module at GCU. Siobhan Morrison, 22, from Stirling, who is currently in the fourth year of a BSc (Honours) in Quantity Surveying, was the Overall Winner of the Best Level 3 Technology Award.

The other awards sponsored by Clark Contracts were the Best Level 3 Technology Student for Building Surveying, won by Ian Thomson, 20, from Larkhall and the Best Level 3 Technology Student for Construction Management, won by James Gilmour, 36, from Glasgow.

Gordon Cunningham, managing director, Clark Contracts said: “We have been sponsoring prizes at GCU for over ten years and we are continually impressed with the calibre of students in the running for the awards. This year’s winners are no exception and we wish them every success in their future careers.”
