We completed the construction of a 4,300 sq ft learning facility at Sky’s existing Kirkton Campus in Livingston.

The new Sky Academy Skills Studio is a purpose built teaching and studio facility specifically designed to cater for visiting school parties of student/pupils. The studio aims to provide 12,000 young people aged 8 to 18 each year with a free learning experience that will link to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and help students build life skills. Students will be able to create their own TV report about a subject they are studying at school using Sky’s state-of-the-art technology, including broadcast-quality cameras, green screen technology and touch-screen edit tables.

The works began with site clearance and preparation works followed by piling and foundation works. We then progressed with the fabrication and erection of the steel frame. Internally, the works to the Sky Academy Skills Studio involved the creation of a reception area, welcome area, immersion room, studio suite, walkway zone along with sanitary facilities and external spaces. External works included soft and hard landscaping with a bus turning point.
