Staff at building company, Clark Contracts teamed up with the firm’s sub contractors and customers to stage a two week drive to collect food and toiletries for donation to 10 foodbanks across Scotland.
The initiative set up collection points at the company’s main offices in Paisley and Edinburgh and at 22 of its current building sites.
It was the brainchild of the company’s employee led Steering group which has, for many years, engaged in a wide variety of activities to support local and national charities.
Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director, Clark Contracts said, “It was great to see this idea emerge from our Steering Group. Our employees work across Scotland and they recognise that in each community where they work, there are people less fortunate and more vulnerable who need a bit of support. Foodbanks do a fantastic job and our staff wanted to make a practical contribution, especially in the run up to Christmas. We also want to thank our sub contractors and customers for getting behind this initiative. It really has been a team effort.”
Ian Esson, Scotland Partnership Coordinator for the Trussell Trust said, "We are absolutely delighted that Clarks Contracts are collecting for Trussell Trust foodbanks across Scotland. The donations will go straight to helping families struggling to make ends meet this Christmas."
The food and toiletries collected are being donated to ten Trussell Trust foodbanks in Dundee, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Renfrew, Johnstone, Paisley, Greenock, Tranent and Whitburn.
