We are currently working towards achieving the ‘Bronze Award’ through the Healthy Working Lives Programme which supports employers and employees to develop health promotion in the workplace.

Our Healthy Working Lives Group was formed in November 2015 and the first step towards Bronze involved issuing a survey to all employees to allow us to identify the areas that are important to people at Clark Contracts.

The results were analysed and actions have seen us introduce free fresh fruit in our Paisley and Edinburgh offices, the formation of a running and cycling club, a nutritionist visiting our head office and arranging for a deli to visit our Head Office to sell fresh healthy produce during lunchtimes.

We have also carried out a number of activities which have included a Golf Day, a cycle to Lochwinnoch and we are also planning a Munro climb, a Pedal for Scotland team and 10 of our employees participating in MacMillan Cancers’ Glasgow Adrenaline Rush obstacle course.

In July, we will be focussing on the topic of Mental Health Awareness and Stress. All of our staff will be issued with an E-learning course on the topic which will be followed up with an interactive seminar delivered by representatives from Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership. The aim of the seminars will be to give our employees a better understanding of Mental Health and the stigma attached to this.

These seminars should be our final step towards achieving the ‘Bronze Award’ and we hope to be presented with this by Autumn 2016.
