Homeless Persons Unit, Blackburn, Official Opening
3rd February 2017 By Clark Contracts Ltd
A new Homeless Persons Unit in Blackburn, built by Clark Contracts for West Lothian Council, was officially opened on Thursday 26th January.
The new facility provides 10 bedrooms which can be used individually or as interconnected suites to provide immediate emergency accommodation for displaced individuals or families, providing a much needed facility for the community.
The new building, which is approximately 710m2, is a timber framed, single storey unit, clad externally with rendered brickwork, built off piles and ground beams. The design incorporates renewable technology in the form of ground source heat pump and underfloor heating with domestic hot water being provided by a solar thermal array.
David Cooper, Director, Clark Contracts who attended the ceremony said: “It was great to re-visit the Homeless Persons Unit now it is operational and I was delighted to be part of the official opening ceremony. We hope the new building provides a modern facility for West Lothian Council and its residents for many years to come and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
