The major refurbishment and fit out of Cumbrae House in Glasgow by Clark Contracts to create Scotland’s biggest youth employment and enterprise hub was visited recently by Deputy First Minister John Swinney.
Operated by the Prince’s Trust Scotland, the centre will open later this year to help thousands of young people from Glasgow and the surrounding area turn their lives around through education, training, jobs and business.
On his visit, Mr. Swinney announced £550,000 investment from the Scottish Government towards the purchase and renovation of the building at Bridge Street, off Carlton Place on the south bank of the River Clyde.

Built originally as a showroom in 1937 and converted to offices in 1988, the Art Deco style Cumbrae House is Grade B listed, clad with distinctive glazed tiles. Iain Blair, Director, Clark Contracts, said, “It’s a real pleasure for us to be working on a building of such significant architectural heritage and it is equally pleasing to know that when complete, the new Prince’s Trust Wolfson Centre will be the base for helping thousands of young Scots”.
