HRH the Princess Royal was the guest of honour at the official opening of the new Stevenson Rooms Facility, refurbished by Clark Contracts for the Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB).

The Northern Lighthouse Board’s Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, visited 84 George Street, Edinburgh, on Thursday 25th of May to unveil a commemorative plaque in the Stevenson Rooms.

HRH The Princess Royal also took time to speak to Edinburgh based NLB staff and a number of selected guests, including Clark Contracts’ Director, Michael Scanlan, and the team involved in delivering the project.

Clark Contracts are nearing completion of the £1.1m refurbishment of NLB’s nerve centre in Edinburgh which houses the Chief Executive in addition to their Area Maintenance, Project Delivery, Human Resources, Information Systems, Procurement, Finance and Health, Safety and Environmental teams.

The existing basement level has been converted into a meeting and conference centre and the opportunity has been taken to upgrade existing stores and to provide staff with modern workshop and welfare facilities, including showers and changing facilities.   External roof works have also been completed.

Michael Scanlan, Director, Clark Contracts said “We were honoured to be invited to attend this special ceremony. It has been fantastic to be involved in this project at 84 George Street, Edinburgh for the Northern Lighthouse Board and we look forward to reaching final completion in the coming weeks.”
