15th September 2015 By Clark Contracts Ltd
Sixty new jobs have been created by Clark Contracts, the construction, refurbishment and maintenance contractor, to support its continued growth across Scotland.
Spread across the company’s main operating divisions and its two offices, covering the West and East of Scotland, the new roles reflect a steady stream of new business wins totalling £26 million during the first half on 2015. Completing this recruitment process will expand the company’s direct workforce to 260.
The new contracts range in value from £100,000 to £4.7 million.
In particular, the company’s thriving Maintenance Division, which delivers planned and reactive maintenance and insurance reinstatement works, is employing over 30 new tradespeople, including joiners, plumbers, plasterers, electricians, roofers and decorators. The new arrivals will support the delivery of significant new contracts, including work from two of the UK’s leading insurance providers, Stirling Council, The City of Edinburgh Council and NHS Grampian. Other new posts created in the Maintenance Division include Maintenance Co-ordinators, Surveyors and Administrators.
Across the company’s Small Works, Construction and Fit Out Divisions, estimators, quantity surveyors and site managers have also joined the organisation.
The company has confirmed that the recruitment process is well underway, with 30 of the new posts already filled. Currently outstanding requirements are for Quantity Surveyors, Site Managers, Contracts Managers, an Estimator and various tradespeople.
The new jobs include the company’s intake of eight apprentices across various trades. They will join the Modern Apprenticeship scheme, supported by the company’s Training Academy, where they will be mentored by previous apprentices who are now working as Site Managers with the company.
Four students from Glasgow Caledonian University have also joined the company to undertake six months work placements whilst finishing their degrees in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying respectively.
Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director, Clark Contracts said, “There is no doubt that the market remains extremely competitive and it is against this background that we are so pleased to have secured a wide range of significant contract wins during the first half of 2015. In addition to recruiting the 60 new staff across all disciplines in the business further reinforcing our commitment to self delivery, we are continuing to invest in our existing staff through our Academy and we are convinced that it is this investment in developing the skills and capabilities of our workforce that is helping us to win record levels of new business.”
