Our Steering Group have been holding various fundraising events in our Head Office including a ‘Six Nations Day’ and our annual Clark Contracts Bake Off, to raise money for our nominated local charity, The Accord Hospice.
Our Six Nations Day was held in March 2016, with each department allocated a team from the Six Nations: Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Italy and France. Employees were asked to dress appropriately for their allocated country, decorate their workspace and eat food from these countries which included: pizza, spaghetti bolognaise, croissants, shortbread and soda bread.
Throughout the day we held sporting challenges including cycling and darts with employees making a donation to guess the total miles cycled and the total darts score throughout the day. Those who guessed the closest received a prize of an Easter egg.
On the 29th April 2016, we held our annual Clark Contracts Charity Bake Off, where employees were encouraged to bring in some home baking and give Mary Berry a run for her money. We had representatives from Accord Hospice testing the home baking and picking a winner. It was decided that the best cake was a carrot cake in the form of a Clark Contracts van!
Following the taste test, employees were invited to buy cakes by making a donation to the Hospice. We then held a Tea Cake Challenge, with a colleague from each department competing to see who could eat the most tea cakes in 5 minutes. The winner managed to eat an impressive 17 tea cakes.
In total we have raised £280 over the two events which was matched by the company and donated to The ACCORD Hospice. You can read more about the work of the hospice on their website, http://www.accordhospice.org.uk/.
