Refurbishment work begins at St Michael's

9th May 2005

Clark Contracts begin work today (Monday 9th May 2005) on the £2.6 million refurbishment of St Michael's Primary School in Port Glasgow.

Scheduled for completion in January 2006, the entire school will undergo major work including renewal of utility services, redecoration of all class rooms, renewal of windows, re-rendering the building, lift installation, new stairwell, new furniture, new car parking provision and improvements to the school grounds.

Andrew Gerrard, property services manager, Inverclyde Council, said: "The work at St Michael's Primary School is the largest Primary School refurbishment undertaken to date by Inverclyde Council. It will result in a complete transformation of the building and we look forward to seeing the completed building handed back to the school next January. We are pleased to be working with Clark Contracts again following the success of the refurbishment of St Francis' Primary School last summer. "

Gordon Cunningham, managing director, Clark Contracts, said: "Around 70% of our business is repeat business so we were delighted that Inverclyde Council awarded us this contract following the work we did for them last year. We believe that we offer a high standard of skill and attention to detail and hopefully this played a part in us securing this business."

As well as work for Inverclyde Council, Clark Contracts has extensive experience in the education sector across the UK, with customers including the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde and Paisley, Tony Blair's old school, Fettes College and various primary schools for West Lothian Council.
