Two 6th year high school pupils are taking part in work experience with Clark Contracts.

The local pupils, currently in their 6th year at St Luke’s and Castlehead high schools, are studying for a foundation apprenticeship in Civil Engineering at West College Scotland.

A foundation apprenticeship is undertaken whilst still at school and is the same level of learning as a Higher. The qualification is gained over two years and involves spending time out of school at college and with an employer.

Each pupil is spending one day per week working with Clark Contracts gaining experience in a mixture of site and office based roles to support their college based learning.

Clark Contracts has provided work experience for more than 20 individuals in the last 12 months across various roles including quantity surveying, joinery, site management administration and accounting.

The construction, refurbishment and maintenance contractor was crowned Employer of the Year at the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce ROCCO Business Awards in November 2017 and was awarded the Construction News Training Excellence award in July 2017.

Clark Contracts is a Gold accredited Investors in Young People employer and believes its employees are key to the successful delivery of projects and is committed to investing in new talent.
