Cove Park artists centre, designed by architects, Cameron Webster, and constructed by Clark Contracts, has been awarded two GIA Awards.
The centre, which overlooks Loch Long, was successful in the ‘Leisure and Arts’ and ‘Wood for Good’ categories of the 2017 Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) awards.
The new build comprises a single storey timber kit building with a mixture of timber cladding and stone facings. It features a kitchen, communal spaces, accommodation, library, office space and studios available for year round use by resident artists, the local community and visitors.
The Jacobs Building at Cove Park supports the expanding programme of artist residencies and public events, with spaces for workshops and performances and comfortable communal space for visitors.
The project was funded by Creative Scotland and a number of trusts and individuals, including major awards from the Robertson and Monument Trusts. It is named after Peter and Eillen Jacobs, Cove Park’s founders.
