This December, Clark Contracts donated over £1,500 worth of gifts to support Cash for Kids Mission Christmas, an initiative dedicated to providing presents to disadvantaged children and young people across the UK during the festive season.
Employees from the main contractor contributed a wide variety of gifts suitable for newborns through to 18-year-olds, ensuring that no child or young person goes without this Christmas. Donations included toys, electronics, and self-care items, which were distributed across Cash for Kids locations in both the East and West of Scotland.
Vic Hendry, Cash for Kids Edinburgh, Lothians, Fife & Falkirk Charity Manager said “This is the most difficult Mission Christmas we’ve ever experienced. The rising cost of living means more local families are living in poverty and as a result, we’re seeing a record number of applications for support this year. Our boxes have been empty time and again at Mission HQ, meaning we’ve had to stop packing gifts and now it’s a race against time. We are so incredibly grateful for the support of Clark Contracts, and I’d like to thank every single person who has donated cash, bought a gift or volunteered during this campaign. Our mission just wouldn’t be possible without you all behind us.”
Diane McCartney, Cash for Kids – West Scotland, Campaigns & Events Executive said “Cash for Kids would like to express how grateful we are for Clark Contracts support of our Mission Christmas campaign. In the West of Scotland, 1 in 4 children are living in poverty, with many facing hunger, cold homes and no visit from Santa on Christmas morning. It’s our Mission to change this and with help from amazing supporters like Clark Contracts we are able to ensure that disadvantaged local children are receiving hot and nutritious meals, and are waking up to a warm home and small gift on Christmas Day’.
Our general Mission Christmas statement is “Christmas for every child, that is our mission. Winter is drawing in, and cost of living pressures are still weighing heavily on families across Glasgow. For them, Christmas is a time of stark choices. Choices between heating their homes or buying food. Choices that strip away the magic of Christmas. No child should worry that Santa won’t come. Please donate a gift or give online.”
Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director of Clark Contracts, said: “We are proud to have supported Cash for Kids Mission Christmas this December. This initiative reflects our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where we operate. We hope these gifts will bring joy to children, young people and their families across the East and West of Scotland.”
