
Clark Contracts has been shortlisted for three awards at the Learning Places Scotland Awards 2026, recognising the contractor’s continued delivery of high-quality, inclusive and future-ready learning environments across Scotland.
The main contractor has been nominated for Contractor of the Year, with its refurbishment of the James Watt South Lecture Theatre for the University of Glasgow also shortlisted in both the Pupil / Student Experience Award and Refurbishment of the Year categories.
Clark Contracts has a strong track record in the education sector, having delivered a wide range of refurbishment, fit out and construction projects for schools, colleges and universities across Scotland. It’s Contractor of the Year shortlisting recognises its ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with education clients and project partners to deliver inspiring, inclusive and sustainable learning spaces.
The James Watt South Lecture Theatre project transformed an existing space within the Category B Listed James Watt South Building into a modern, accessible and high-performing learning environment. The refurbishment improved accessibility, acoustics, AV and lighting, while incorporating energy-efficient systems and sustainable finishes to enhance the experience for students and staff.
Clark Contracts delivered the project for the University of Glasgow, working alongside AtkinsRéalis, HLM Architects and Hoare Lea.

The Learning Places Scotland Awards celebrate excellence across the education estate, recognising projects and organisations that are helping to create innovative, inclusive and sustainable learning environments.
The winners will be announced at the Learning Places Scotland Awards ceremony in Glasgow on the 3rd November.
