Phased refurbishment complete at University of Dundee’s Matthew Building

Clark Contracts has completed a £1.7m refurbishment of the University of Dundee’s Category B listed Matthew Building.

The project, which commenced in June, was phased across three levels of the building during the summer to ensure disruption was minimised to building users.

On level 5 of the 9-storey building, works comprised of the refurbishment of the entrance area, concourse, toilets and a lecture theatre. Works to Level 2 included the upgrading of the AV store, editing suite and toilets whilst the CAD suite on level 6 was also refurbished.

Substantial mechanical and electrical alterations and replacements were also completed along with window and roof light replacements.

External works included the replacement of the vertical and raking windows to the north elevation above the building’s joinery workshop, new roof coverings and the replacement of the AHU and ventilation system servicing the workshop

Director, Gerry Cummins said, “It has been fantastic to work on our first project with the University of Dundee over the summer and to continue our experience in the higher education sector. We hope to work with the university again in the future.”

Clark Contracts has a long history of working within the higher education sector having worked in 11 of the Scottish universities with project experience with the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, University of Edinburgh, University of St Andrews, the University of the West of Scotland, Herriot-Watt University, Glasgow Caledonian University, the University of Stirling, the University of the Highlands and Islands and Edinburgh Napier University.
