Artizan Centre redevelopment Underway

November 28, 2025

The refurbishment of the Artizan Centre in Dumbarton has moved to the next stage of work, to improve the appearance of the retail units.

Main Contractor Clark Contracts has been appointed to deliver the works on behalf of West Dunbartonshire Council, following a successful tendering process.

The canopies which are currently in place above the shops will be removed and replaced with new, upgraded shelters.

Cladding will also be refreshed, replacement shopfronts with a uniform design will be installed and the facades will be cleaned and repainted.

The project is part of investment provided through the UK Government for three key projects, including the redevelopment of Glencairn House and the Connecting Dumbarton project.

Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor David McBride, said: โ€œThis is an ambitious project to improve the look and the feel at the heart of Dumbarton.

โ€œThe demolition work which has already been undertaken at the Artizan Centre has made a visible difference to Dumbarton town centre. It has paved the way for these improvement works and I look forward to seeing the area transform as they take place.โ€

Vice Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor Lawrence Oโ€™Neill, said: โ€œThis is an important step in the regeneration of Dumbarton, and there is no doubt that this work will have a noticeable and positive impact on the town centre.

โ€œThe overall project will transform this central area and increase footfall to the businesses in the Artizan and town centre as a whole.โ€

Michael Scanlan, Director โ€œWeโ€™re proud to be undertaking the refurbishment of the Artizan Centre and to be collaborating again with West Dunbartonshire Council. We look forward to seeing the refreshed town centre welcomed by the local community.โ€
