For the ninth year running, Clark Contracts, the construction, refurbishment and maintenance company, has scooped a Gold Medal Award at the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Occupational Health and Safety Awards.
Our Director, John Mooney, is celebrating 20 years at Clark Contracts this July!
John trained as a Chartered Accountant at Ernst & Young from 1985-1989. He then moved to general contractor Melville Dundas for 6 years before joining Clark Contracts in 1995 as Financial Controller, and has been Finance Director since 2001.
Two Clark Contracts employees, along with 50 other cyclists, took part in the ‘Five Ferries’ cycling challenge on Saturday 13th June 2015. The event was organised by Steven Irvine, Laing O’Rourke, Tony Curran, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Calum MacCalman, Archial Norr to raise money for Rothesay based charity, Calum’s Cabin.
Clark Contracts, the construction, refurbishment and maintenance company, has showcased its commitment to the next generation by joining The 5% Club, an industry lead initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
We held our 4th annual Spring Classic on Friday 15th May at Loch Katrine, by Aberfoyle. The event was attended by 24 guests made up of clients and design teams and the Clark Contracts team of 6 cyclists.
We have welcomed 4 new university students to Clark Contracts who will be completing their work placement as part of their degree course.
These four new recruits will be working with us full time over the next 6 months and are currently in the third year of their degree course at Glasgow Caledonian University with three studying Construction Management and 1 studying Quantity Surveying.
Our office fit out project at 2 West Regent Street, Glasgow was nominated for a British Council for Offices (BCO) Award in April 2015!
With the changes to the CDM Regulations being introduced this month, we have summarised the impact of these changes for contractors below. The aim behind the new regulations is to bring them more closely in line with European legislation; particularly regarding domestic clients, to make them simpler, to reduce the need for detailed competence assessments and to ensure that the CDM process is embedded in the project team.
New orders worth over £11 million were secured in March by Clark Contracts, the construction, refurbishment and maintenance contractor, making it the most successful month ever in the company’s 37 year history.
On Friday 27th March our Steering Group held the ‘Clark Contracts Charity Bake Off’. Colleagues were invited to bring in their home baking giving Mary Berry cause for concern in order to raise money for our local nominated charity, The Accord Hospice.
